Beyond "Happily Ever After"

     Once upon a time the divorce rate in America was 2.6 divorces for every thousand marriages. Today the divorce rate in America is more than 50 percent, which means that more than 500 marriages out of a thousand will end in divorce: FIVE HUNDRED! That is our new reality. The new slogan for marriage should be "I Do": Until death, divorce, abandonment, or "I just do not feel like being married anymore," Do Us Part.
In real life, the road to "happily ever after" is not written in stone. The reality is that after a divorce a number of women, with their children in tow, can expect their income level to drop by as much as 50%: plunging them into poverty.  We all think that the death of a spouse, a breakup, or abandonment will not happen to us, - but we cannot all be right!
Even if you are living the fairy tale life you should still...


 

FYI: It is believed that once paired, bald eagles mate for life - we may need to follow their example.

    Hi, just over from BF. I am moving to the USA in a few weeks time and appreciate you are out there. Mayn things get handled differently in the States and while Iam a budgeter and controller of my finances, I do worry not knowing enough about taxes, coupons, retirement and the health insurance is something ina ddition which worries me. You have another faithfull follower!

    The USA is a "wonderful" country, I am sure you will love being a part of a country with so much to offer. The libraries are full of information on any and every subject. We have the best book stores that have large comfortable chairs and sell coffee and pastries.

    In my first marriage I did not know even how to pay a bill! When my husband left, even though he was very generous, I ended up getting in a mess with money. It was hard to go from living a luxury life to living on a budget. Ended up making all the wrong moves. Now in my present marriage, everything is done together and we both know what is going on with our money and talk about it daily.
